HostGIS is a company which specializes in geospatial-oriented server hosting. This is contrasted with other places which are essentially big-box web hosting, whose geospatial component is limited to the mapserv binary being installed. HostGIS also does start-to-finish consulting and development of mapping applications.

The term HostGIS is often misapplied to refer to HostGIS Linux as in "I just installed HostGIS and want some help configuring my..."
