You need the Google Earth plugin. The browser will warn you and will install it if necessary.
Try out some of the presets for a great demo of what a good camera angle can do.
- Overlay your commercial points of interest (POIs) in a fabulous 3D globe. Give your advertisers the attention they deserve.
- The overlays are KML files, which could be static files, generated dynamically from a database, or files built from a database when changes are made.
- The list of layers could be dynamically generated from a XML file, which is generated from a database by an admin tool. Adding a new category of POIs causes it to appear on the map, without editing HTML and writing new layer definitions. For this demo, a predefined set of layers is used.
- The concept of "presets" to zoom to a specific location is also fairly flexible. The list of presets could be stored in a database and loaded at runtime, or a preset could be built from search results.
- Iconography could be defined by default for a layer, and overridden for any specific POI. This could tie in with a concept of "premium" advertisers with special or custom icons.
- The language here is Catalan. We also do language-sensitive apps, allowing you to load alternate KMLs, alternate labels for the buttons, etc. in other languages. This takes more work, but fits well if you have an international audience.
