SprayDrift.com provides tools for predicting weather conditions pertaining to agrichemical drift. The aim is that applicators can see a forecast of ideal times for application of chemicals such as pesticides, and adjust their spraying schedule and behavior accordingly.
- Having logged in, a user can create, save, and edit bookmarks. This is done via a very slick AJAX interface, without reloading the page nor using frames.
- The forecasts are provided by GFSv4, a project and product of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Weather Service (NWS). The forecasts are downloaded in GRIB2 format and converted to a MySQL database where they can be queried efficiently. This downloading and conversion is done via a set of automated scripts.
- The raw forecast data is accessible to developers via a XML or JSON feed from a sibling project, GFSXML.com
